Founded by Pauline de Breteuil, the name of the website comes from her aunt Winaretta Singer, princess of Polignac (1865-1943), daughter of Isaac Singer, the inventor of the sewing-machine, and Isabelle Boyer, the model for the Statue of Liberty.

An important patron of arts and music, Winaretta was a cosmopolitan woman, independent and strong. She was very modern for her time, open to the latest vogue and a role model for her niece Pauline.

« I want to offer a haven to today's women: in a stressful world, we all need a moment of grace and vanity, a moment of lightness and recovery...
All I want is to honour those women, by offering them a web site which treats them… like princesses, of course.«
